 Fifth Grade Benchmarks

Reading/Language Arts

  1. Write a variety of five paragraph papers
  2. Sequence events, predict outcomes and comprehend a variety of materials
  3. Take notes using research materials and write a research paper

Mathematics

  1. Compare, order, and write whole numbers and decimals
  2. Add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers and decimals
  3. Geometry - identify and apply geometric terms
  4. Fractions - add and subtract fractions, common denominators, and simplify fractions

 

 

Students must achieve 70% on the Math assessments.  They must achieve 60% on the Reading, Science, and Social Studies assessments.

Homework Policy 

Assignments must be completed at the beginning of the next day's class period.

  • 1st late assignment:  warning and stay in from recess to complete the assignment
  • 2nd late assignment:  warning and stay in from recess to complete the assignment
  • 3rd late assignment:  referral and after school detention (under principal's discretion)
  • 9 late assignments in 1 quarter:  After school homework intervention
