Fourth Grade Benchmarks 

Reading/Language

  1. Write an essay including a beginning, middle and end
  2. Use various reading strategies to comprehend written materials
  3. Identify the main idea in a variety of written material
  4. Identify character, setting, and plot in literature

     

Math

  1. Read and write numbers up to 6 digits
  2. Add and subtract numbers up to 3 digits with regrouping
  3. Round 5 digits to the nearest ten, hundred or thousand
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of multiplication facts 0-9
  5. Perform computation procedure to solve multiplication of whole number 0-9
  6. Solve one step word problems using addition, subtraction and multiplication

 

Students must achieve 80% on each of these assessments.

Homework Policy

Assignments must be completed at the beginning of the next day's class period.

  • 1st late assignment:  warning and stay in from recess to complete the assignment
  • 2nd late assignment:  warning and stay in from recess to complete the assignment
  • 3rd late assignment:  referral and after school detention (under principal's discretion)
  • 9 late assignments in 1 quarter:  After school homework intervention
